Jobs Hiring Immediately: How to Find Them and Apply the Same Day (2026)
Short answer: Jobs hiring immediately are easiest to find on Indeed with the “Urgently hiring” label and the last-24-hours filter, on LinkedIn with Date posted set to past 24 hours plus Easy Apply, on ZipRecruiter with an “immediate hire” search, through staffing agencies and shift apps, and on employer career pages in warehousing, retail, food service, healthcare support, driving and call centres. “Immediately” rarely means today. It usually means the employer wants someone in the seat within one or two weeks, and the first complete applications get the phone screens. What works is a short daily routine: fresh listings only, a resume and standard answers ready, applications sent within hours of posting, and a phone you actually answer.
Two of the most common opening lines in FastApply’s support chat are “apply asap” and “looking urgently for job”. People who type “jobs hiring immediately” want listings, not an essay. So most of this post is about where the listings are and how to reach them before everyone else. The last section covers the scams that cluster around the word “immediately”, because they are real and they target people in a hurry.
Updated 2 October 2026 with figures from FastApply’s September 2026 application log.
What “hiring immediately” means on a posting
On Indeed, “Urgently hiring” is a label the employer turns on to say they have an immediate need. It only appears on paid Premium Sponsored Jobs, so a listing with the label is one the employer is paying to promote. That is useful information: they are spending money to fill it. Indeed’s own marketing says jobs with the label hire about five days faster than unsponsored jobs. That is Indeed’s number, and we have not seen it checked independently.
On employer career pages the same intent is written as “immediate start”, “start ASAP” or “now hiring”. It means the role is open and funded. It does not mean you will be working tomorrow. Most employers still run a phone screen, a background check and sometimes a drug test, and a warehouse or hospital cannot onboard you the day you apply. In practice “immediately” means within one or two weeks. The exception is shift work booked through an app, which can start the same day.
Read the label as a signal about speed, not ease. The employer is in a hurry, so the first few complete applications get the calls. Everything below is about being one of those.
The market you are applying into
The Bureau of Labor Statistics published its Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey for August 2026 on 29 September 2026. The headline figures: about 7.08 million job openings, 5.19 million hires, a hires rate of 3.3%, and about 3.07 million quits. Openings were down 256,000 from July.
Two things follow. There are still millions of open roles, so “hiring immediately” is not a myth. But the pool is smaller than it was in 2022 and it is shrinking month on month, so an employer who writes “immediately” has more applicants to pick from than three years ago. Being early matters more now, not less.
The gap between 7.08 million openings and 5.19 million hires also says something about listings that never turn into a hire. Some roles are slow to fill, some are posted to build a pipeline, and some are never filled at all. Our guide to spotting ghost jobs covers how to tell them apart. A posting with the “Urgently hiring” label and a date inside the last two days sits at the low-risk end.
Where the fastest openings are posted
The listings cluster in a few places. Set each one up once, then run the routine in the next section every day.
| Where | How to find the fast ones | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Indeed | Search your title and city, set Date posted to Last 24 hours, look for the Urgently hiring label | The largest volume of hourly and entry-level roles. Indeed Apply takes about a minute |
| Set Date posted to Past 24 hours, tick Easy Apply, sort by most recent | More office and professional roles. Easy Apply has a daily cap that LinkedIn does not publish | |
| ZipRecruiter | Search “immediate hire” or “immediate start” with your city | Heavy on logistics, driving, retail and care work. One-click apply on many listings |
| Staffing agencies | Register with Adecco, Randstad, Robert Half or Kelly online, then phone the local branch | Temp and temp-to-hire roles filled in days. The branch does the matching, so a call beats a form |
| Shift apps | Build a profile on Instawork or Wonolo and pick shifts | Same-day and next-day shifts in warehouses, events and hospitality, paid per shift |
| Employer career pages | Search the company name plus “immediate start” | Direct hire. Forms often run on Workday or a similar system and take longer than a board |
| FastApply job board | Sort by date, filter by location | More than 860,000 live listings by the site’s own count, with one-click auto-apply on supported boards |
The agency names above are examples, and each one covers different cities and trades. Check their sites for your area. For a wider comparison of the apps themselves, see our ranking of the best job search apps in 2026.
By sector, “immediate start” shows up most in warehouse and logistics, retail, food service, healthcare support (certified nursing assistants and home health aides), CDL driving, call centres, security, and the seasonal roles that ramp up from October. If you want a salaried office job, the 24-hour filters still help, but expect a slower process with more interview rounds.
A 60-minute routine for applying the same day
Speed comes from preparation, not from typing faster. In FastApply’s September 2026 log the median submitted application took 79 seconds from opening the job to submission (24,567 timed submissions), so the time per application is not the constraint. The constraint is finding fresh, matching postings and getting to them first. This routine is built around that.
Step 1: Prepare once, before day one
Make one single-column resume saved as a text-based PDF, write out your answers to the standard questions (availability, shift preference, work authorisation, expected pay, start date), and decide which phone number you will answer during the day.
The questions repeat on almost every form. Having the answers in a note, or stored in a tool’s profile, turns a ten-minute form into a two-minute one. If you need a resume quickly, the ATS resume format guide shows the layout that parses on every system.
Step 2: Minutes 0 to 15, search three boards with freshness filters
Search your title and location on Indeed (Last 24 hours), LinkedIn (Past 24 hours, Easy Apply) and ZipRecruiter (sorted by date), and open every posting that matches in a new tab.
Do not read the full descriptions yet. You are collecting, not judging. A posting that is older than two days is usually already past its first wave of applicants.
Step 3: Minutes 15 to 45, apply newest first
Work through the tabs in order of posting time, newest first, using the board’s own apply button where it exists and the employer’s page only when the board sends you there.
Fill every required field. A half-finished application on a Workday form is not an application. If a form asks for a cover letter and it is optional, skip it for hourly roles; a wrong or generic letter helps nobody. Our post on whether you need a cover letter covers the exceptions.
Step 4: Minutes 45 to 55, log what you sent
Write down the company, role, where you applied and the date, either in a sheet or in a tool that logs it for you.
This is the step people skip, and it is the one that saves you when a recruiter calls and says “about the role you applied for”. Our free job application tracker template has the columns ready.
Step 5: Minutes 55 to 60, check the phone and the inbox
Look at missed calls, voicemail, email and the spam folder, and reply to any screening request within the hour.
Employers who are “hiring immediately” often screen the same day. A reply the next morning can mean the slot went to someone else.
Step 6: Repeat daily, and stop to fix things after 50 silent applications
Run the routine every weekday, and if you reach 50 applications with no reply at all, stop and change the resume or the target before sending more.
Fifty silent applications is a signal, not bad luck. Usually the resume is not parsing, the titles are wrong, or the location radius is too tight. Our data on how many applications it takes to get an interview gives the benchmarks.
Running the same routine with an auto-apply tool
An auto-apply tool does steps 2 and 3 for you, which is the part that eats the hour. The settings that matter for immediate-hire roles are the ones people ask us about in chat: “only remote”, “within 10 miles”, “skip my current company”. Set the location radius, set the posting age to the last 24 hours, add three or four exact titles, and exclude employers you do not want.
Then run the first ten applications in Copilot mode, which fills the whole form and waits for you to read it before submitting. That catches a wrong availability answer or a stale resume before it is copied across fifty forms. After that, Browse & Apply runs in your browser on every plan, and Apply for Me runs on our servers on paid plans. FastApply works on Indeed, LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, Glassdoor and the application systems behind employer pages, and the full list is in our post on which job sites you can auto apply on.
Two cautions. LinkedIn limits Easy Apply submissions per day and pauses accounts that submit in bursts, so keep LinkedIn volume modest and let the tool spread applications across Indeed and employer pages. And volume does not fix a bad match: our guide to mass applying with AI shows that only about 30% of attempts in our September log ended in a submitted application, mostly because postings were skipped, duplicated or already closed. For a daily target by situation, see how many jobs to apply to per day.
The scams that cluster around “immediately”
Urgency is the scammer’s favourite tool, so the “hiring immediately” search results carry more fraud than most. The patterns we see:
- Pay before you start. A fee for training, a background check, a starter kit, a laptop or “onboarding”. No legitimate employer charges you to be hired. Walk away.
- Same-day pay recruited through Telegram or WhatsApp. A company name you cannot find on the state business registry, a recruiter with no LinkedIn history, and pressure to decide in an hour.
- Cheque-cashing and “payment processing” roles. You receive money and forward it on. That is a money-mule scheme, and you are the one who ends up liable.
- An offer letter with no interview. Real employers in a hurry still talk to you, even if only for ten minutes on the phone.
- Requests for your bank login or your Social Security number before an offer. Payroll details come after a signed offer, not before.
If you have been caught, report it to the Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov and to the board where the posting appeared. The ghost jobs guide covers the quieter version of the problem, listings that are real companies but not real openings.
FAQ
-
What does “hiring immediately” mean on a job posting? It means the employer has an open, funded role and wants to fill it quickly, usually within one or two weeks. On Indeed the “Urgently hiring” label is a paid feature the employer switches on to say exactly that. It does not mean you can start the same day, except for shift work booked through an app.
-
Which jobs hire the fastest? Warehouse and logistics, retail, food service, healthcare support such as certified nursing assistants and home health aides, CDL driving, call centres, security, and seasonal roles from October onwards. Shift apps such as Instawork and Wonolo can place you the same day. Office roles move more slowly even when the posting says immediate.
-
How do I get hired within a week? Apply only to postings from the last 24 hours, send complete applications within hours of posting, keep your phone on and reply to screening requests the same day. Register with one or two staffing agencies and phone the branch. Fifty applications with no reply means something is wrong with the resume or the target, so fix that before sending more.
-
Does Indeed’s “Urgently hiring” label mean I will get an interview? No. It means the employer paid to promote the listing and stated an immediate need, so they are likely to screen quickly. Indeed’s own marketing says these jobs hire about five days faster, which is the company’s figure. You still need a complete application and an early submission.
-
Can I apply the same day without a resume? On shift apps you build a profile instead of uploading a resume. On Indeed, LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter and employer pages you will almost always need one. A one-page, single-column resume takes about an hour to make and works on every system.
-
How many immediate-hire jobs should I apply to each day? As many as pass your filters for title, location and shift, which for most people is between five and twenty a day. Fresh matching postings are the limit, not your time. LinkedIn caps Easy Apply submissions without publishing the number, so spread applications across Indeed, ZipRecruiter and employer pages.
Conclusion
“Hiring immediately” is a promise about the employer’s urgency, not about your start date. The August 2026 JOLTS figures show about 7.08 million openings against 5.19 million hires, so the roles exist, and the people who get them are the ones whose complete application arrives in the first wave. Set up the boards once, run the hour-long routine every weekday, log what you send, and answer the phone. Let a tool do the typing if you want the hour back, but keep the first ten applications in review mode and the scam checks in your head.
